Mr. Thomas Avery of Covington, TN transitioned Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Public viewing to be held Friday, October 3, 2025, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Barlow Funeral Home 205 North Main Street Covington, TN 38019.
Funeral service to be held Sunday, October 5, 2025, 1:00 PM at Plummer Grove C.M.E Church 1528 Andrew Street Covington, TN 38019.
Interment immediately following at Plummer Grove CME Church Cemetery.
Thomas Avery was a phenomenal person! He played a significant role in helping me become the person I am today! He was a second father to me and a grandfather to my kids. We loved and respected him immensely and he will be greatly missed.
You don’t forget people who are kind to you
My family moved from Covington Housing Projects to Solo Rd in the country 1970-71 school year. It was the beginning of the 7th grade for me. The move to the country required us to transfer from Covington Elementary School to Holmes Elementary School. I dreaded the move because I was leaving everyone I knew and going to a new school.
Thomas Avery was the first person who befriended me at Holmes Elementary School inviting me over to his lunch table introducing me to some of his friends. We became fast friends and remained close during our elementary and high school years.
I’ve never forgotten Thomas’s kindness, the things we did together or the laughs we shared.
My deepest condolences to his close nit family the Avery’s and Edwards. May God continue to bless and strengthen you all.
Thomas was a good person who had a positive impact on many people.
